Words cannot even really begin to explain my excitement to make this announcement... but I'm about to give it my best shot!

If you’ve been following along, you’ve already caught glimpses of my amazing trip to Curaçao that I’ve been sharing in short videos across my platforms. But now, I’m so excited to finally bring you the bigger picture.

Runaway with Mel is my new travel documentary series and the first full episode is all about Curaçao. Y'all already know I enjoy storytelling and it's always a part of everything I do. But unlike the short videos you've seen, this project takes a much deeper dive, highlighting its history, Afro-Caribbean culture, and resilience.

From Willemstad’s colorful UNESCO heritage sites to local food, art, and music, I wanted to capture the layers of what makes Curaçao unforgettable. You’ll see interviews with artists, healers, and community voices, blended with my own journey of exploring the island.

And guess what? I shot the whole thing myself. No crew, no backup—just me, my camera, and a lot of determination. That’s part of what makes this project so personal. It was challenging (imagine sprinting to set up the tripod before the light disappeared), but also incredibly rewarding.

So, when you haven't seen me post for a while or I'm not always able to respond right away to a comment, this is why. I have really been working hard behind the scenes, along with my fabulous editor, to really create something fresh and immersive that takes you beyond the beaches and lets you experience Curaçao the way I did.

I can’t wait for you to see the full episode soon. Until then, consider everything I’ve shared so far the “sneak peek.” Runaway with Mel is the full story, and I hope when you watch, you’ll feel the same joy and connection I felt creating it.
