SHARING WITH MEL

For the past year, Sharing with Mel has been a space where I’ve posted stories that matter — voices that often don’t get amplified, perspectives that feel both personal and universal. Most of those pieces have lived online in short-form, giving audiences quick but powerful glimpses into communities, culture, and lived experiences.

Now, I’m taking that same vision to the next level. Planet Brooklyn marks the first full-length episode of Sharing with Mel that will stream across major platforms. Think of it as a deeper dive, a fully developed documentary-style story told my way, where authenticity leads and community always comes first. And what better place to start than Brooklyn?

Brooklyn isn’t just where I live and work — it’s a microcosm of culture, history, and hustle. From Caribbean influences to the creative energy pulsing through neighborhoods, the borough has a way of embodying both resilience and reinvention. With Planet Brooklyn, I wanted to capture more than just the finale concert at Barclays. This episode is about the people who give Brooklyn its heartbeat, the entrepreneurs shaping their communities, and the everyday stories that deserve to be seen and heard.

What excites me most is that this step forward keeps the same soul of Sharing with Mel while expanding its reach. It’s still about highlighting underrepresented voices, but now with the resources and time to fully explore them. Viewers will get layered storytelling, interviews that breathe, and visuals that linger — all stitched together in a way that feels true to both the subject and the space.

For me, Planet Brooklyn is the first of many full-scale productions I’ll be sharing. Each episode will build on the foundation of authentic storytelling, while embracing the new possibilities that come with streaming distribution.

If you’ve been following along with Sharing with Mel from the beginning, thank you — your support has made this leap possible. And if you’re just discovering my work, welcome! I can’t wait for you to see where this journey goes next.

It was also a technical adventure. To capture the sights and sounds authentically, my partner at Industry Labs and I relied on a mix of equipment:

This blend allowed us to move through crowded streets, catch spontaneous performances, and capture the essence of the festival energy without missing a beat.
