If there’s one thing Brooklyn knows how to do, it’s bring people together. This past weekend, the borough welcomed the very first Planet Brooklyn festival: a two-day celebration filled with live music, food, local vendors, and a big finale concert that showed just how unique and diverse this borough really is.

While there were some events that were ticketed, many of them were free, like the block parties near Barclays Center. And the corner of Lafayette Avenue and Fort Greene Place belonged to Saint James Joy. The father and son DJ duo have been hosting block parties in Brooklyn since the pandemic, creating a space for people to dance, laugh, connect, and just enjoy being in community again. Planet Brooklyn tapped right into that energy, with the constant flow of beats and neighbors moving together like family.

I even jumped into the fun myself :)

This is just a peek into the greatness of Planet Brooklyn. More highlights and a deeper recap are on the way.

And because I always get asked what gear I use to capture my stories, here's what was used in this video.:

DJI Mic 2 for crisp, clear audio when chatting with people in the crowd.

DJI Action Cam 5 Pro for perfect for grabbing quick, stable shots of the action.

DJI Osmo 360 because sometimes you need to capture the full scene and energy of the block.

I've linked the exact ones I use in my Amazon store so you can check them out too.
